2007
Below are brief reports on the shows I attended during 2007 with Quando.
The Supreme Cat Show 2007
This was my first visit to the Supreme which is held at Birmingham's NEC. I took a trip up the day before as I am fortunate to live only 15 minutes away and good job I did or I am sure we would have got lost. Quando behaved like a pro all day and wowed the public many of whom had never seen a Selkirk before. We had a wonderful day and I spent a lot of time watching the judging which is unique in the GCCF in that it is done on a table in a ring where you can watch and listen to the judges commentary when given.
The Selkirk Neuter Class was judged by Mrs C Kaye.
There were only two boys in this class but they made it competitive! The other Selkirk competing was Curlu Flynn a black longhaired boy bred by Pam Anderson and owned by Sue Lorton Hobbs. He is a younger cat than Quando but of a similar size but without having Quando's rather stout look!
The judging went on for a long period of time with Mrs Kaye liking things about both cats - each having their strengthes and their not so strong points. In the end though Curlu Flynn aka George deservedly got the nod and gained his second Intermediate Certificate and Best of Breed with Quando coming in a close second - all down to his being a bit stout.
Rex Cat Club Championship Show 3rd November 2007
Quando recovered really well from the illness he suffered in October and returned to the show scene in grand style. I was over the moon with how he coped and behaved and even more chuffed with the results! He acheived his third Intermediate Certficate becoming the fifth cat to do so! Not bad for a pair of novices

Quando was put forward against Pamela Anderson's Curlu Fionn (Best Adult) and Curlu Gretel for Best in Show Selkirk. It was his first time on the Best In Show bench and he behaved impeccably. The judging became tight when each judge voted for a different cat to win! Eventually however Gretel became the well deserved winner.

Wyvern Cat Club Championship Show 9th September
Unfortunately Quando did not enjoy this day - the hall was very crowded and his pen was right at the back with no real clearance room between him and the stalls so people were very "pressed" against the pens. He went into himself completely and didn't show off to his best.
We met Bernadette and her husband and their beautiful tabby show neuter, Amazolou Rikki Tikki Tavi at this show and he deservedly beat Quando in the Open and won his first IC at this show as well as doing very well in his side classes.
Quando is now due a break as I am having ankle surgery in a couple of weeks but will hopefully come out better than ever at the next show.

Three Counties Cat Club Championship Show 18th August
Travelling down the afternoon before meant Quando arrived at the Guildhall in Southampton fresh and alert. The Guildhall holds many memories for me as I lived in Southampton until I was 11 and my Grandfather worked at the Civic Centre for many years. So an emotional return and a happy one! I met Pam Anderson and her gorgeous kitten Curlu Gretel and Curlu Delanna, Gretel's mum. I also got to meet Lisa Pietersen again before she headed off to Australia - both ladies gave me invaluable advice on feeding and showing - Thank You!
Quando performed beautifully for the judges - the bonus of being at the Guildhall was sitting on the balcony with a cat magazine and some munchies and seeing my boy behave like an angel in and out of his cage like a yoyo as several judges had another look

Kensington Kitten and Neuter Cat Club Championship Show - 28th July 2007
Quando made his GCCF debut at this specialist kitten and neuter show in Bracknell. I was very kindly accompanied by my best friend Jen and we met up with Rachel Millward, Quando's previous owner who was there showing her Tonkinese kitten, Willow.
I had a great day, meeting the Selkirk Rex Cat Club lot and joining the club, and just generally learning all about cat showing. Quando performed well despite being a bit daunted by the whole occasion.
