Reared in the home

Boucles kittens are raised indoors and subjected to all the normal hustle and bustle of a family home including hoovering, loud music and regular baths.  They are born in my bedroom and spend the first few weeks of their lives in there before moving out to spending their time in my office once they are toilet training and eating solid food.  Once they are vaccinated they then mix with the main cat household where they learn social skills with other cats and get to meet visitors as well as generally behaving like turbo charged fluffy ninjas.

Our kittens are fed a mixed diet to ensure that they are use to different foods before going to new homes.  We firmly believe in a species appropriate diet which is high in meat content and free from grain where possible to ensure our cats are fit and healthy.  Foods which we use include:

  • Purrform complete raw food - chicken and rabbit varieties are their favourite
  • Bozita chunks in jelly - turkey, chicken and rabbit are wolfed down
  • As a complimentary treat they enjoy Cosma Nature chicken fillet and chicken and ham varietes
  • Royal Canin pouches - British Shorthair, Instinctive or Hair & Skin
  • Smilla grain free kibble
  • Hills TD kibble designed for healthy teeth
  • Freeze dried raw nuggets which we import from China which has the same recipe as Stella & Chewys.

All our kittens receive the following to ensure they are fit and healthy and ready to go to their new homes:

  • Vaccinated at 9 and 12 weeks with the core vaccines and FELV.  Our vet uses Leucofeligen.
  • Microchipped
  • Wormed and flea treated routinely
  • Neutered
  • Health checked by an experienced cat specialist vet on three occasions

and come with a goodie bag of the following as part of their moving home kit:

  • Registration papers and pedigree from either GCCF or TICA or both
  • 4 weeks of PetPlan insurance
  • Adoption contract
  • One week's worth of food which they are used to eating to help them settle in
  • A blanket smelling of 'home' to help them settle in
  • A selection of toys
  • A pack of Catit Vanilla Pea Husk cat litter which is our litter of choice.

I've seen a kitten I like - what do I do now?

Info to know before enquiring

We do not release kittens for reservation before they are weaned which is around 6 weeks old.  It may take a little longer for us to know which kittens are available if we are watching any kittens to remain in the breeding programme.

Before 9 weeks we can do video calls for you to see the kittens and chat.  Once the kittens have had their first vaccination then you can visit the kittens.  I prefer not to take deposits until after we have had a video call or you have visited.  Once you have selected your kitten a non refundable deposit is taken to reserve them (please note if I cannot fulfil the placement of the kitten for whatever reason this will be refunded).

Since 2014 all our pet kittens have been neutered before leaving home.  Part of responsible breeding is ensuring that the cat population is not increased through accidental matings where a cat or kitten has not been neutered at the right time.  Since the pandemic many vets have long waits for neutering so our owners have welcomed this being taken care of for them.  Early neutering (at 13 weeks) has been practised for many years and research has shown that kittens recover much more quickly at this age than at 6 months - 1year.  Kittens will able to come to their new homes at 15 weeks (1-2 weeks after neutering).   Following a bad experience in the past, this wait after neutering is not negotiable and is to ensure kittens are fully recovered and ready to settle into their new homes.

It is important that it is right for both you and us and as such we do reserve the right to refuse sale of a kitten if we do not believe it to be a perfect match for you and that kitten.  Additionally we will always advise you on which kitten we feel would suit your home life and family circumstances  We cannot guarantee the colour or sex but instead ensure that the kittens purrsonality and temperament will fit.  A great cat is never a bad colour!

Kittens for pet or show neuter homes are £1,250 (£300 deposit and £950 payable on collection) and for breeding they start from £2,000.  We will consider exporting for pet and breeding homes and there are Boucles kittens all over the world.  All costs associated with exporting (Rabies vaccine, pet passport or other export papers, travel and import duty for the destination country) are the responsibility of the new owner but we can assist with arrangements.

All kittens now leave with a full written contract to protect both you and us should anything go wrong.  We will always take one of our cats or kittens back if things do not work out but kittens are not inanimate objects and as such we strongly recommend that you maintain suitable pet insurance after the free insurance has expired to protect against any unexpected veterinary costs.

If you have got this far and are keen to chat or ask more about the process or our kittens/young adults then please drop us an email or give us a call - full details are on the contact page.
